About Bethy

Bethy Hardeman_Consumer AdvocateBethy is the Consumer Advocate and Communications Manager at CreditKarma.com, where she’s been since 2011. She writes regularly about personal finance, credit and the economy. She also maintains a personal blog, Style Aesthetic.

Originally from South Carolina, Bethy received a B.A. in English and Spanish from Erskine College, a small, liberal arts school in Due West, South Carolina. She went on to receive her M.A. in Spanish Literature at Syracuse University before moving to San Francisco. She began working for See Jane Run, a locally owned women’s athletic apparel brand, where she fell in love with online content development and social media. She launched the See Jane Run Blog and managed the brand’s social media channels. During that time, Bethy also volunteered for El Tecolote, a bilingual neighborhood magazine for the Mission District of San Francisco. She contributed articles, assisted with editing and also translated several pieces from Spanish to English.

Bethy came to work at Credit Karma in February of 2011 as an Online Content Writer. She soon became the Social Media Manager. Now, as the Communications Manager, she oversees all aspects of the Communications Team including social media, copywriting, member support, content strategy and development, community management, brand strategy and messaging and market research, among other things. She also assists with Credit Karma’s public relations program. As the Consumer Advocate, she loves being the voice of Credit Karma for many top-tier sites and blogs alike, and especially enjoys writing about common credit myths.
